  • Sophie Thatcher (“The Exorcist”)
  • Filmmaking Duo Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell (In The Pines, Redemption, Man)

Jay Duplass is a trailblazing independent filmmaker and actor, best known for playing Josh Pfefferman in Jill Soloway’s critically acclaimed series TRANSPARENT (Amazon).

As an actor, Duplass has appeared in a wide range of film projects, including Lynn Shelton’s OUTSIDE IN (which he also co-wrote and executive produced), Miguel Arteta’s BEATRIZ AT DINNER, and Gillian Robespierre’s LANDLINE. In addition to his work on TRANSPARENT, Duplass has had recurring roles in SEARCH PARTY (TBS) and THE MINDY PROJECT (Hulu).

Duplass’ career took off back in 2005, when he and his brother Mark debuted their first micro-budget feature, THE PUFFY CHAIR, at the Sundance Film Festival. THE PUFFY CHAIR went on to win the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival and also garnered two Independent Spirit Award nominations.
Over the past decade, he and his brother Mark have co-written, directed, and produced multiple independent film and television projects together, including CYRUS, BAGHEAD, JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME, TOGETHERNESS (HBO) and ROOM 104 (HBO). Additional producer credits include: SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, THE SKELETON TWINS, THE ONE I LOVE, TANGERINE, THE OVERNIGHT, and ANIMALS (HBO).

Thatcher hails from Chicago where she made her mark in the theater world playing Anne Frank in “The Diary of Anne Frank” to which she received rave reviews. Growing up, she also starred in several other stage productions including “A Christmas Carol: The Musical,” “Oliver!,’ and “The Secret Garden.” She was last seen as ‘Cathy’ in Tom Stoppard’s play “The Hard Problem” at the Court Theatre in Chicago. PROSPECT is Thatcher’s first starring film role and next year, she will star in the Anonymous Content film The Tomorrow Man,  opposite John LIthgow and Blythe Danner, directed by Noble Jones.

Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell are based in Seattle, Washington where they founded their production company SHEP Films. Their first short film IN THE PINES premiered at SXSW in 2012. PROSPECT is based on their short of the same name which also premiered at SXSW in 2014 and is their debut feature length film.

Written and directed by Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell (In The Pines, Redemption, Man), PROSPECT, hailed as the “best indie science fiction movie since ‘Moon’” stars Pedro Pascal (“Game of Thrones”, “Narcos”), Sophie Thatcher (“The Exorcist”) and Jay Duplass (“Transparent”). Thatcher and Duplass portray Cee and Damon, a father-daughter following their path through the galaxy in search of the ultimate payday, and the two quickly fall prey to unknown terrain and dangerous encounters as their mission turns deadly. PROSPECT also features Andre Royo (The Spectacular Now), Sheila Vand (Argo) and Anwar Glover (“The Wire”).

All aspects of the retro-futuristic sci-fi western - from aesthetic to sound - were intentional and capture the essence of a period piece. With medieval era instruments used for the soundtrack, vintage Russian glasses lenses rehoused for shooting and costumes inspired by actual space travel, PROSPECT has a historical feel and is referred to as “what the standalone ‘Star Wars’ movies should feel like”.

PROSPECT, based on a short by Earl and Caldwell, had its world premiere at SXSW 2018 to critical acclaim where the film took home The Adam Yauch Hörnblowér Award reserved “in honor of a filmmaker whose work strives to be wholly its own, without regard for norms or desire to conform.”
