First Look and Teases of Massive Improvements to Come when Cooperative Horror Shooter GTFO Exits Steam Early Access Later This Year

10 Chambers Gives First Look and Teases Massive Improvements to Come when Cooperative Horror Shooter GTFO Exits Steam Early Access Later This Year

GTFO Version 1.0 to Feature Continuation of the Rundown System, Improved Graphics, Enhanced Matchmaking, New Environments and Items, Quality of Life Changes, and More!

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (October 19, 2021)10 Chambers — a Swedish game development studio composed of industry veterans known for PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2 — announced today the very first launch details for its popular cooperative multiplayer horror shooter GTFO which exits Steam Early Access later this year.

Released in December 2019 in Steam Early Access and in development for a total of six years, GTFO Version 1.0 significantly evolves the terrifying and hardcore game that’s often described as “Left 4 Dead meets Aliens”. Throughout its time in Early Access, GTFO has utilized a unique content delivery system called “Rundowns” — regular game updates that added new limited-time expeditions (maps, scenarios, challenges, enemies, etc.) that completely replaced the previous Rundown. Following five major Rundown releases during Early Access, GTFO will expand upon the concept further and continue to offer players new Rundowns featuring varied gameplay experiences and expeditions that aim to further expand the game for years to come.

Cast in a four-player team of prisoners held against their will by a mysterious entity called The Warden, a player’s survival depends on their team’s ability to communicate, coordinate, and manage their ammunition — else they doom themselves to a bloody, messy death. Through the Rundown system, The Warden subjects prisoners to a never-ending series of nightmarish expeditions that go deeper into a place called The Complex. To The Warden, data is invaluable, and human lives are expendable.

“During the Early Access phase, we have delivered a total of 50 expeditions in our five Rundowns, throwing a range of tough challenges to our community. There have been theories that this concept is something we're just using during Early Access to try out different gameplay mechanics, but I am happy to say that the Rundown updates will continue with GTFO in Version 1.0,” said Simon Viklund, Narrative Director and Composer at 10 Chambers.

As 10 Chambers’ premier game release, GTFO leveraged its time in Steam Early Access to gather player feedback and refine the gameplay experience. The game’s release depended entirely on when the studio felt that it was worthy of a full release that provided players with an enjoyable amount of in-game content and quality of life features. In addition to new game environments, communication tools, and weapons, GTFO Version 1.0 will introduce improvements to the game’s graphical rendering, new animations, enhanced online matchmaking, and much more. A first look at GTFO Version 1.0 is in the accompanying press kit.

“With the success of GTFO's Early Access launch, we've been able to grow our development team and give each part of the game the focus it deserves. The game will have a very noticeable transition from Early Access to Version 1.0, richer in content, but also the quality of life down in the Complex – stuff like better glass rendering, new third person animations, a handy communication wheel,  and weapons that move more realistically. Small stuff, but when you add it all up – and it's a lot of stuff, it gives you an even better experience of the game,” said Ulf Andersson, CEO at 10 Chambers.

As previously communicated by 10 Chambers, ahead of GTFO’s formal version 1.0 launch out of Steam Early Access, the price will marginally increase from $34.99 to $39.99.

“We have consistently communicated that we will increase the price for Version 1.0, as we think it's reasonable that you pay less for a game while it's still in Early Access development. The new price will be $39.99 in the US, and the Rundown updates will keep dropping as a Version 1.0 game. The price increase will happen on November 1st, several weeks before the Version 1.0 launch, to keep the authorities happy. If you want to grab GTFO on a deal, keep an eye out for a final sale before the increase,” said Robin Björkell, Communications Director at 10 Chambers.

GTFO was released on Steam in Early Access in December 2019 and is available for purchase at a reduced Early Access price of $34.99 until November 1, 2021. To purchase the game, please visit https://store.steampowered.com/app/493520/GTFO

Developer 10 Chambers Releases GTFO “Rebirth://EXTENDED” Update Today and Teases Its Ambitious Plans for Version 1.0

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Developer 10 Chambers Releases GTFO “Rebirth://EXTENDED” Update Today and Teases Its Ambitious Plans for Version 1.0

Cooperative Horror FPS GTFO Gets Major Update Today Featuring New Missions and Horde Game Objective Ahead of Game’s Targeted Launch Out of Steam Early Access Later This Year

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (June 23, 2021) 10 Chambers — a Swedish game development studio composed of industry veterans known for PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2 — is excited to announce today the launch of a new title update for its popular cooperative horror shooter GTFO on Steam: “Rebirth://EXTENDED”. The latest GTFO update (dubbed Rundowns) expands upon the “Rebirth” Rundown which was released in late April 2021, adding five new expeditions for a total of thirteen unique missions. Also included in the Rundown update is a new game objective which tasks players with surviving relentless enemy hordes as they fight tooth and nail to progress through expeditions before a 30-minute timer runs out, all the while solving complex tasks like hacking computer terminals to clear their path.

Described as “Left 4 Dead meets Aliens,” GTFO is a terrifying, hardcore cooperative multiplayer shooter where good teamwork means the difference between life and death. The game uses a concept called Rundowns, which are regular game updates that add new limited-time expeditions (maps, scenarios, enemies, etc.) that completely replace the previous Rundown. Cast in a four-player team of prisoners held against their will by a mysterious entity called The Warden, survival depends on a team’s ability to communicate, coordinate, and manage their ammunition — else they doom themselves to a bloody, messy death. To The Warden, they’re all expendable.

Rebirth://EXTENDED is GTFO’s biggest Rundown to date, acting as the game’s latest major title update ahead of a full 1.0 launch out of Steam Early Access later this year. The previous GTFO update set the stage for Rebirth://EXTENDED by adding a new fauna-filled map called Floodways and by introducing artifacts which players can redeem for ability-buffing injections aptly named Booster Implants. 10 Chambers will reveal its ambitious plans for GTFO Version 1.0 and what exciting improvements players can expect to the game in the coming months.

“The beauty with the Rundown concept is that we can throw new challenges at our community with every new one and see how they are received. The community can always be excited for what will come next, and it is also more fun for us to develop. It keeps us on our creative toes. The new ‘horde objective’ will require some high level of stress management from our Prisoners,” said Simon Viklund, Narrative Director and Composer of GTFO.

“We have fleshed out a pretty extensive list of features we want available in GTFO as a Version 1.0 game; we have always wanted the Version 1.0 launch to be felt. The transition from Early Access to Version 1.0 will be noticed in this game – and we feel confident that this transition will happen this year,” said Ulf Andersson, Creative Director of GTFO.

GTFO Rebirth://EXTENDED Update Key Features:
  • [New in Rebirth://EXTENDED] EXPEDITIONS EXTENDED — Can you master, let alone survive, all thirteen expeditions included in the Rebirth://EXTENDED update? Show The Warden what you’re made of.

  • [New in Rebirth://EXTENDED] EXPENDABLE — The Warden is curious to see how well prisoners react to constant stimulation and the threat of death. Can you survive a full 30-minutes of wave after wave of gruesome monsters? Do it for science.

  • [Added in Rebirth Rundown] New Environment: Floodways — Mother Nature has met her match with The Warden. Plantlife has been allowed to propagate in the new Floodways sector of The Complex, but so have new nightmares and obstacles. You’ll need a steady trigger finger as opposed to a green thumb to survive here.

  • [Added in Rebirth Rundown] New Enemy: Spawner — Keep your eyes forward and also up. Spawners reside on ceilings, giving birth to monsters even in rooms already previously cleared.

  • [Added in Rebirth Rundown] Booster Implants — Collect artifacts during the Rundown and offer them to The Warden for a prize: an injection of “special” liquid into your brain that boosts abilities. Booster Implants carry to additional Rundown playthroughs even if killed, offering players additional incentive to progress.

GTFO released on Steam in Early Access in December 2019 and is available for purchase for $34.99. To celebrate the launch of the Rebirth://EXTENDED update — which is free to owners of the game — GTFO is on a limited-time sale for 20% off. Co-Op Horror Shooter GTFO from Ex-PAYDAY Developers Receives “Rebirth” Update Featuring New Environment Type, Dangers, and Brain Juice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cooperative Horror Shooter GTFO from Ex-PAYDAY Developers Receives “Rebirth” Update Featuring New Environment Type, Dangers, and Brain Juice

Enter the Bio-Doom: GTFO’s Fifth Rundown Update Sports Unique Fauna-Filled Levels with Terrifying New Scenarios and Adds “Boosters” to Aid New Players

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (April 29, 2021) 10 Chambers Collective — a Swedish game development studio composed of industry veterans known for PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2 — are proud to announce today the release of the “Rebirth” update for their cooperative horror shooter GTFO on Steam. As the game’s fifth major title update (dubbed Rundowns), Rebirth is the game’s biggest expansion yet, introducing a new ecological sector to the game’s evolving underground facility, The Complex. The Rebirth Rundown takes GTFO players to new depths, flush with fauna, unique mission scenarios, horrifying monsters to face, and it introduces new, juicy gameplay mechanics.

Rebirth sets players farther down into The Complex into an area called Floodways — a new environment that substitutes a dark and cold industrial aesthetic for one where nature has sought to reclaim the domain. Further expanding the lore of GTFO, within Floodways are clues as to why players are trapped in The Complex and imprisoned by The Warden.

New to GTFO are Booster Implants, which give players additional incentive to re-enter The Complex. Players can now find valuable artifacts within the game that The Warden eagerly collects. If pleased with their findings, he rewards players with Booster Implants — an ability-buffing injection delivered directly into the brain. Players juiced up with a Booster Implant can enjoy a range of perks such as better weapon handling and faster terminal hacking. Earlier Rundown updates have seen the additions of other gameplay mechanics such as layered difficulty, which gives players the option of choosing different routes through expeditions, ranging from very hard to extreme. Artifacts are delivered to The Warden regardless of completing an expedition, giving players an additional resource when revisiting a Rundown that may have bested them previously.

“Brick by brick, we’re laying the foundation for GTFO to exit Early Access as a force to be reckoned with,” said Ulf Andersson, Creative Director of GTFO. “We believe the addition of Booster Implants gives players an optional gameplay mechanic that not only enhances replayability but also accessibility to those facing too much of a challenge when they first start playing GTFO. In combination with layered difficulty and other quality-of-life improvements, we maintain GTFO’s challenging gameplay for hardcore gamers but ensure that new players are welcome into our fantastic community.”

“With Rebirth, we’re also expanding the lore for fans that want to know more about the world we created,” said Simon Viklund, Narrative Director of GTFO. “The new additions found in the Rebirth update offer clues to the background story of the game, providing slivers of new information as to what’s going on, why players are imprisoned in The Complex, and who — or what — The Warden is. Overall, we can’t wait to hear what players think of GTFO’s most significant update to date!”

New in the GTFO Rebirth Update:
  • New Environment: Floodways — Mother Nature has met her match with The Warden. Plantlife has been allowed to propagate in the new Floodways sector of The Complex, but so have new nightmares and obstacles. You’ll need a steady trigger finger as opposed to a green thumb to survive here.

  • New Enemy: Spawner — Keep your eyes forward and also up. Spawners reside on ceilings, giving birth to monsters even in rooms already previously cleared.

  • Booster Implants — Collect artifacts during the Rundown and offer them to The Warden for a prize: an injection of “special” liquid into your brain that boosts abilities. Booster Implants carry to additional Rundown playthroughs even if killed, offering players additional incentive to progress.

GTFO released on Steam in Early Access in December 2019 and is available for purchase for $34.99. To celebrate the launch of the Rebirth update — which is free to owners of the game — GTFO is on a limited-time sale for 20% off.
