Golf Review: Bridgestone J33 r460 Driver Review- 4/25/07

Comments: The Bridgestone J33 driver was a boring looking club and no feel at all on the drives, low ball flight. Didn't like the Bridgestone J33 at all.

Golf Review: Mega OEM Golf Driver Reviews- 4/25/07

Monster of the Week had the chance over the weekend to attend a demo day out on the range and so I have a better practical review of some of the newest drivers in the 2007 market.

The Talega golf course in Rancho Santa Margarita had Nike, Cleveland, Cobra, Bridgestone, Maruman, Mizuno, and TaylorMade golf companies on April 14, 2007 at their driving range allowing players to try out the newest irons, hybrids and drivers on a real course instead of a golf net at your local pro shop. MOTW.com had a little spare time after golf class so only tried out the drivers (though secretly wanted to try out the R7 Taylor Made irons and Corba hybrids but ran out of time).

Upcoming posts will have a ranking of our favorite drivers tested at this event. Remember that MOTW averages about 200-220 yards per drive via his TaylorMade R7 Draw driver with Adila NV stiff flex and 13 degree head. So based on the slow swing speed MOTW, we wanted to try out some regular flex shafts and also revert to a lower 10.5 degree head.

N/A: Didn't get to try the Mizuno driver at the tent since for some reason they only had one to two stalls and MOTW didn't want to wait in line.

Check back soon!

Movie Review: Robotech- The Shadow Chronicles- 4/12/07

Comments: As a Robotech fan I give SC a 7.5 out of 10. As a regular movie watcher I give SC a 4 out of 10. As a RT fan I liked seeing a continuation of the RT storyline even if the story was only so-so (but after watching other anime I didn;t think the storyline was that bad, it seemed like every average anime to me), seeing the mecha again and apart from everyone else's opinion I did like the 2D artwork used.

As a regular movie watcher I did not like how the movie ended with the hanging plot points (seeing how long it to SC to come out on DVD I expect the sequel to come out in 2018). The 3D battles ARE jarring to see, wish they kept them animated like in Mac Zero or Yukikaze. I was hoping to see some ground battles on earth vs. the Invid. The backgrounds on the characters were pretty sparse. And finally...boobs, yes they are big and distracting sometimess...but especially on Ariel and Janice's bodies sine for some reason they wear the super low V-neck suits.

P.S. What happened to the special features section? It was just a trailer and fan documentary? Not even the United Nations trailer. I did not like how when the producers and HG employees discussed RT or showed clips it was only Mospeada no mention of Macross or Southern Cross or why it took so long for SC to get back on-screen. I was on the look-out for Mokman the DVD...but I don't know what ya look like!

Golf Review: Driver Review for 3/21/07

Comments: I've just had the chance to demo both the Sumo2 and the FT-i today since my local driving range had both a Nike and Callway demo day on the same day.

Callaway FT-i: Tried the 10.5 with lightweight flex shaft and draw bias.

Nike Sasquatch Sumo2: Tried the 10.5 with regular flex shaft.

While hoping to like the FT-i more since it does look sweet for a square, the Sumo2 actually hit further and dead center on every hit. The only let down for the Sumo2 was the sound that everyone complains about, it sounds like a very deep aluminum bat feel to it.

The FT-i (though it did have the draw bias to it) I still hit slices with and about maybe 5-10 yards less than the Sumo. The sound sounded better than the Sumo after hits but it still didn't sound as good as my Taylor Made R7.

I was hoping that these two square drivers would out drive my current R7 but I was able to hit them just about the same distance. So no dice on switching to either of these new drivers on my part.

Golf Course Review: Aliso Creek Inn and Golf Course in Laguna Beach, CA- 3/12/07

Comments: The Aliso Creek Golf Course 9-hole is one of the best looking 9-hole courses in So. Cal that I have played.

Nestled along the Aliso/Laguna foothills the course is surrounded by lush and beautiful hills. Makes you feel like your out in the mountains when the course is actually located right off Pacific Coast Highway.

It is a challenging course with the championship tees located atop higher ledges coaxing regular tee hitters to try them out, be warned though those extra 10-15 yards will hurt you if you are not an accurate hitter, ditches and gorges will swallow your golf balls whole.

Watch out for the trees off the 1st and 18th tee, if you happen to hit your balls into them they will get lost in the trees since they are very heavy in foilage. The 8th, 82 yard hole i very deceiving and is actually longer than expected, club up on this hole or you'll lose a few balls in the ravine. Played at noon and there were chipmunks running up to me looking for food. Play during the weekdays and the slow easy going play is great.

Customer Service:
The driving range listed on their website is actually just a long practice net to warm up your swing. If you need to warm up on an actual range hit at your local course before coming here, $3 for a adequate small bucket. The course is $23 for Mon-Thur and $25 for Fri-Sun. $3 for pull cart rental.

Blog Review: New site tracking software for your blog. Clicky!

Comments: I’ve previously used site meter on the MonsterOfTheWeek website to help track information on the number of visitors to this website and also recently tried the site tracking using the Google maps page that shows where visitors came from.

I’ve recently just found a new site tracking program that does what all the previous site tracking applications I’ve used previously all in one program, and it’s FREE as well.

Clicky is a new tracking program I’ve found while searching the web regarding search engine optimization and page rank information. Clicky has a really helpful user interface that shows more in detail where your visitors are coming from, at what time, IP address, Google map link, as well as my favorite part- What sections of your site the visitors are clicking on or going to.

I’m now just trying the free application version, but if you have a heavily visited site that requires additional information for you to process, Clicky also has a few upgradeable paid versions for you. Go ahead, try it today! Get Clicky.
